Design at Clearbit is growing, and we're shaping the team that's focused on product & platform design into a group of visual, interactive, and experience-focused designers and design engineers who can build the future of the Clearbit platform.

Our mission at Clearbit is to change the way marketing teams operate by being the real-time marketing intelligence platform that drives more leads and generates more business for our customers.

As the first Design Engineer at Clearbit, you'll make an immediate impact on that mission and for our customers. Day-to-day, you'll design and build components for our React component library and interfaces for customers. You'll partner with other designers on the team, with product managers, and with product engineers to focus on interaction and interface design & development, and building end-to-end experiences that delight.

In this role, you will...

Lead the UI development for new capabilities and products that will launch in the Clearbit platform. You'll have direct impact on customer-facing projects, and our company objectives.

Design and build intuitive, interactive, and adaptable UI components for ClearKit React (Clearbit's design system and UI component library).

Work side-by-side with product managers, designers, and engineers to create UI prototypes for Clearbit product interfaces and the Clearbit platform, to be a partner in shaping big ideas and bringing them to life.

Define front-end and UI development practices and processes at Clearbit to help engineering teams build and deliver world-class user experiences in a scalable manner.

Document guidelines that teach designers and engineers how to use components and patterns across design and code, and help product engineers adopt and implement interfaces as they use components you've engineered.

Uphold Clearbit's standards for engineering and product quality, and raise the bar on interaction design fit & finish.

You're a good fit in this role if...

You have advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (React).

You have 4+ years of relevant front-end development for the web, at a tech-forward, product-driven company.

You'd consider yourself a designer and engineer and have an eye for detail, in both design and code. You seek out opportunities to use both skillsets, putting the foundations of good design into practice and pushing the limits of the mediums on which we build our experiences.

To you, performance and accessibility isn't a nice-to-have, it's a must-have.

The idea of building foundational components (that the entire product development org will adopt and use) is a challenge you're excited for. You're able to make sense of patterns across product areas and build in reasonable abstractions that allow your work to address immediate challenges, and adapt to future needs.

You have experience designing and documenting intuitive APIs and libraries for UI components and understand the nuances of how backend services communicate with the presentation layer.

Systems are at your core. You think in systems, design in systems, and develop in systems. You're able to anticipate how a system will be used and how other teams will consume the components you create, and the effects of large and small changes to a system.

You're a helper by nature, and take pride in your work. You understand the needs of a product development team — product managers, engineers, and designers — and can build the type of tooling and processes that enable Clearbit to abstract away the nuances of implementation, so that the focus is on ideas and consistency across interfaces.

You like to show and share your work. You're a communicator, and knowing how and when to communicate is second nature. You're able to take big, complex concepts and make them approachable for both technical and non-technical audiences. To you, getting aligned on a idea is equally as important as getting to

Pragmatic design and development is your mantra. You cherish being on a team that seeks outcomes over ego. Getting hands-on to help teams improve existing product experiences, or develop new product experiences, or explore big "what if?" ideas and market opportunities is exciting and fun.
